John Wick: Chapter 3 Expands the Action Genre with Balletic Precision

Based in Las Vegas, Michael Bonislawski is a well established DJ who leads an entertainment group that undertakes casino bookings. In the past, Michael Bonislawski reviewed movies with the Florida News Journal and he maintains an active watch on new Hollywood movies.

One of the most anticipated recent releases was John Wick: Chapter 3, which opens where the second installment left off, with a $14 million bounty having been placed on the revenge-driven lone wolf character played by Keanu Reeves. This stemmed from the fact that Wick had been excommunicated from the High Tower, which functions as a “quasi-religious bureaucracy” for a chaotic underworld. His crime was killing a mafia boss within the sanctuary of the Continental, where no violence is allowed.

In an Internet-connected age, what this translates to for Chapter Three is that virtually every bounty hunter worldwide has an aim of taking John Wick out. Despite the high body counts, the John Wick movies are artful cinematic exercises that transcend a variety of Asian and Western action styles and become what a PluggedIn reviewer has described as “ballets of blood.” The movies also stand as fairy tales for a modern era, with a lone, outmatched warrior fighting against untold monsters and demons on a path toward redemption.
